Where the Wild Things Are!!!

As part of our Writers Workshop the students listened to Where the Wild Things Are, then drew a picture of their favorite part. After that, we reconstructed the story into a mural by using their drawings. Finally, the students worked with a partner on retelling part of the story and writing it on sentence strips. Through this process, the students should see how one author organizes their writing in chronological order. Their narrative writing also needs to have a clear beginning, middle and end and two or more sequenced events.
