Where the Wild Things Are!!!

As part of our Writers Workshop the students listened to Where the Wild Things Are, then drew a picture of their favorite part. After that, we reconstructed the story into a mural by using their drawings. Finally, the students worked with a partner on retelling part of the story and writing it on sentence strips. Through this process, the students should see how one author organizes their writing in chronological order. Their narrative writing also needs to have a clear beginning, middle and end and two or more sequenced events.

Patterns, Patterns, Patterns

In Math Workshop we are identifying repeating and growing patterns. To meet the standard the students must also be able to extend patterns and fill in missing terms.

Lunch Bunch!

The students were all treated to Lunch Bunch on Friday. They love eating in the classroom, but were told that from now on they would have to 'earn' lunch bunch by having good behavior!

Working with Larger Numbers

The students practice counting higher numbers this week by counting the number of tiles, pennies and beans, that would fit inside an outline of their foot. We then graphed our class data. We also practiced writing our numbers as high as we could go...most students could accurately write the numbers to 100!!
